PERSONAL EXHIBITION OF LEKIM IBRAGIMOV

Lekim Ibragimov is a world-renown artist. He is a professor, a scholar of the Academy of Arts of Uzbekistan, an honorary member of the Russian Academy of Arts, a national artist of Uzbekistan.

He was born on December 21, 1944 in the village of Small Dehan in the Uyghur district of the Almaty region of Kazakhstan in a teacher’s family. From 1964 to 1971 he attended the Art College named after N. V. Gogol in Alma-Ata. Between 1971 – 1977 he was a student in the graphic department of the Tashkent Theatre and Art Institute named after A. N. Ostrovsky / now the National Institute of Arts and Design named after Kamoliddin Behzod /. Beginning 1976, that is still during his student years, Lekim Ibragimov becomes an active participant in various national, CIS state and international exhibitions. In 1978 he was admitted to the Union of Artists of the USSR. He is also a member of the Union of Artists of Uzbekistan (1996 – Creative Union of Artists at the Academy of Arts of Uzbekistan). From 1978 to 1986 he consistently worked in the studio of the House of Artists “Sinezh”, as well as art studios in Baltic countries. In 1998 Lekim Ibragimov was a delegate in the World Congress of Artists in Paris. In 1999 he was elected a full member (academician) of the Academy of Arts of Uzbekistan. In the same year he became a professor at the Arts and Design National Institute named after Kamoliddin Behzod. In 2001, Academician Lekim Ibragimov was awarded the title “People’s Artist of Uzbekistan” in recognition of outstanding merit. In 2008 he became an honorary member of the Russian Academy of Arts.
The style of the works of Lekim Ibragimov combines in itself painting, drawing and calligraphy. His work is a harmonious blend of Eastern and Western cultural heritage, modernism and poetic symbolism, traditional classical and abstract-surrealist trends. The hallmark of Lekim Ibragimov’s work is an image of an angel or several angels in each of his paintings.
The works of L. Ibragimov are exhibited at the State Museum of Oriental Art (Moscow, Russia), the State Museum of Arts of Uzbekistan (Tashkent, Uzbekistan), the Museum of East Asia (Budapest, Hungary), Novosibirsk State Art Museum (Russia), the State Museum of Arts named after A. Kasteyev (Almaty, Kazakhstan), the Gallery of the City Hall of Tavkerhen (Germany). His works are also in private collections in the USA, France, Italy, Israel, India, Austria, Japan, Germany, and Russia.
