ONLINE PREMIERE OF THE FILM BY MARC WAIL “MAY OUR THINKING BE CLEAN”. 1983 YEAR.

A documentary about the early years of development of the Ilkhom Theater.
The early years, Ilkhom existed as a theater studio of professional actors in Tashkent. The very first productions contradicted the canons of the Soviet theater. And instantly evoked a response from the viewer: by freedom, honesty and courage.

What made the actors come together, rehearse at night without getting paid? What creative tasks did the team set for itself? What kind of feedback did the audience receive and what idea helped the theater maintain freedom of thought? The film by Mark Wail answers these questions.
A classic film, miraculously preserved to this day, is saturated with the spirit and atmosphere of a bygone era.
The film captures significant creative figures of that time, including the legendary cultural figure of Uzbekistan Rakhim Kariev and People’s Artist of Russia Alla Demidova.
“Ilkhom. Retrospective.” project continues to share archives and recreate the past in stages. Learn more about the history of the Ilkhom Theater and follow the milestones of history with us!
