Study Abroad at the Ilkhom Theatre School, Tashkent, Uzbekistan

The Ilkhom Theatre, which proved itself as a high professional art centre with international reputation established the First non-state School of Drama based on the theatre in 1994. For the last years, the Ilkhom Theatre School of Drama proved itself as one of the most effective in professional education. The elaborated methodology of the school - the school of new type - is basing on international practice and professional experience of the Ilkhom Theatre, which attracted the high-qualified specialists of different subjects for work in the school. The masters of the school are leading teachers and culture benefactors of Uzbekistan as well as colleagues abroad - from School-partners of the Ilkhom Theatre in France, Germany, USA and Russia.

During three-years training, after the expiration of each semester (in total there are 6 semesters) - the School is holding tests, open lessons-exams, where leading specialists in educational and theatre art spheres of Tashkent are invited. Students are graded on the totalizing basis of open lessons-exams' and semester's results.

After the expiration of the third, probation year, two degree productions of different genres, styles and dramaturgy based as on classical as on modern play are produced. The productions are staged by specially invited professional directors.

Producing of two different productions is necessary for students in terms they could practice technical and style's features of the profession, it will give skills of work with different stage directions as well.

After the premiere of the second production the degree of drama theatre and film actor is conferred upon the students, as well as the letter of verification and Diploma of The Ilkhom Theatre School of Drama, confirming the degree's conferment, is delivered.

Application forms as for full cycle of training (two years) as for part training are considering.

Strategy and methodology of training.

During the training, the students learn disciplines directed on the developing of their natural creative and world outlook potential. There are most important special subjects prevail between them:

Hello drama students, The School of Drama has a study abroad program coordinated with the Ilkhom Theatre School in Tashkent, Uzbekistan. If you are interested in studying abroad there (autumn 2006 or any future quarter), please note that Mark Weil, the Artistic Director of that school is here in Seattle until January 8th. Several drama students have studied at the Ilkhom Theatre School since autumn 2003 with great success. Three drama students (Amy Schumacher, Tyler Polumsky, and Katie Robbins) are currently there from Autumn 2003 and 2004. They enjoyed the program experience so much that they have extended their stay through Winter 2005.

1996-1998 - STUDIO II
International Students exchange between the Ilkhom Theatre School of Drama and University of Washington School of Drama - four students from the USA studied at the School for 3 months. As a result one of the students performed in the Ilkhom Theatre production "Giselle" by Olga Mikhailova.

International Students exchange between the Ilkhom Theatre School of Drama and Carroll College (Wisconsin) - three students of the Ilkhom Theatre School of Drama worked on the co-project "Rhinoceros" during three months in the USA, the result of this work was co-production "Rhinoceros" by Eugene Ionesco, which was presented as in the USA as in Uzbekistan.

1998-2000 - STUDIO III
Collaboration work with Jacques Lees Lecoq School in Paris (France) where the student of the third studio Mr. Rustam Esanov studied one year. Now Mr. Rustam Esanov teaches Jacques Lees Lecoq School methods at the Ilkhom Theatre School of Drama as a special subject of acting.

Co-project "Love's Labour's Lost" by William Shakespeare became as the result of collaboration work between four schools of drama: Yoram Loewenstein Studio in Tel Aviv (Israel), University of Washington Drama School in Seattle (USA), Folkwang-Hochschule Essen University (Germany) and the Ilkhom Theatre's Drama School (Uzbekistan). The co-project was presented on the Ruhrfestspiele Recklinghausen Europaisches Festival (Germany) in June 2001.

2003-2005 - STUDIO V
THE AGREEMENT FOR CULTURAL, EDUCATIONAL, AND SCIENTIFIC COOPERATION BETWEEN THE SCHOOL OF DRAMA, UNIVERSITY OF WASHINGTON, USA AND THE ILKHOM THEATRE SCHOOL OF DRAMA was signed. The first six students-participants of the Student Exchange program studied in Tashkent for 2 semesters (9 months).

3 from them have remained at School of drama art of Ilkhom Theatre up to the ending of training of 5 studios - December 2005: Tyler Polamsky, Amy Schumacher, Katie Robbins.
