2-30 April 2007 – a personal exhibition of Ibrahim Valihodjaev

Today the name of Ibrahim Valihodjaev is among the most interesting and well-known artists of Uzbekistan. The main theme of his paintings is images of contemporaries, everything they surround with, what they live for, characters, types, the way of life and different kinds of day-to-day manifestations. His personal attitude to all the above he manifests through different genre compositions, numerous portraits, still life and landscapes.

In his work the artist leaves the priority for painting. Enthusiastically making experiments with color he guesses right and compares incommensurable by his artistic flair, for example, in his well-known painting series dedicated to the Namangan bazaar and his recent portraits, where he bravely blends together and clashes contrasting and pictorial stains. As a result bright decorative canvases are being born, which bear inside a coloring and hot warm of native Uzbek land. Or, otherwise, these paintings where he uses the most complicated color tasks with superfine nuance of change and combination of warm and cold colors. These are more dimmed and exceptionally beautiful in the whole pictorial solution.

Painted in different manners all works are united by the sense of the artistic proportion and inner delicacy. In spite of the fact that Ibrahim uses it might seem the most prosaic topics, he is able to create inspired, permeated with national spirit images, which the artist passes through his delicate sense of the world and love to the native land and its inhabitants.

Ibrahim Valihodjaev is a participant of lots of exhibition: Germany and Ethiopia in 1993, Moscow and Israel in 1995, the USA in 1996, Bangladesh in 1999 and many others.

His paintings are in museums of Uzbekistan – Tashkent State Museum of the Art, regional museums of Ak-Kurgan and Namangan, the Directorate of Art Exhibitions attached to the Ministry of Culture of Uzbekistan and in private art collections and galleries in the USA, Canada, Italy, Germany, Great Britain, France and the Philippines.
