On January, 27 - THE NIGHT OF ISAAC BABEL: HOW IT WAS DONE IN ODESSA!
Isaac Babel, a son of a Jewish trader, grew in a many-sided seaport Odessa, and won worldwide recognition by his book “Cavalry” in twenties of the twentieth century. Obsessed by idea to reflect enormous political and cultural changes in the Soviet Union, he found himself in the field of Stalin’s vision lately. In 1939 Stalin’s “sleuths” arrested and tortured him. In 1940 they killed him in one of the Moscow prisons. After reading of fragments of the book, a discussion about works and life of Babel in foreshortened of the Stalin’s repressions will take place.
