“Vylag” by Boris Pavlovich (St. Petersburg)

On December 18, at 18:30, the Ilkhom Theatre of Mark Weil will present “Vylag” by Boris Pavlovich (St. Petersburg). “Vylag” is a collaborative project between Theatre.doc and “The Dramatic Laboratory”.

The plot is comprised of Arthur Stradinsh’s diary entries – actual notes taken on cigarette rolling papers, which became the pages of the gulag prisoner’s diary in 1942. “The monosyllabic notes on life at the camp are not predisposed to artistic interpretation. They knock the breath out of you with their colosal raw power. The case is such that the letter, addressed to nowhere, which by some miracle made it out of the camp, can finally meet the addressee today. The addressee being us.”
The play participated in Russian Case festivals “The Golden Mask”, “The Golden Mask” in Estonia, “The Divadelna Nitra”, “Voices of History”, “Pilorama”, “LIFT”.
